About
Part A:
Hospital Insurance
Coverage:
Inpatient Prescription hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health services.

Type:
Original Medicare.
Part B:
Medical Insurance
Coverage:
Services from doctors and other providers, outpatient care, home health, durable medical equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers), and preventive services like screenings and vaccines.

Type:
Original Medicare.
Part C:
Medicare Advantage
Overview:
An alternative to Original Medicare, offered by private companies.

Coverage:
Combines Part A, Part B, and usually Part D (prescription drug coverage) into one bundled plan.
Part D:
Prescription Drug Coverage
Coverage:
Helps pay for prescription drugs, including many vaccines.

How to Join:
Add to Original Medicare or opt for a Medicare Advantage Plan that includes drug coverage.
Medicare Supplement
Insurance (Medigap)
Purpose:
Extra coverage to help pay your share of costs not covered by Original Medicare.

How It Works:
Offered by private companies, Medigap policies are standardized by letters (e.g., Plan G, Plan K). Benefits are the same regardless of the company selling the plan.
